it matters not to bleed or not to bleed, for we are metal
Lewis and Clark Music Coalition, the group of students who undertake the daunting task of planning killer rock shows, has its first offering this Saturday September 12, 2009 at 9pm in the Trail Room. Headlining is the sludge-metal duo Jucifer, but perhaps more relevant to the LC community is the opener: our own Metal Shakespeare Company. Metal Shakespeare Co. was formed by Lewis and Clark Students (now alumni), based on the premise of putting Shakespeare’s words to metal. They succeeded. Since the group’s formation, their talent, showmanship, and dedication to staying in-character has escalated impressively. Even if you know that you dislike the genre, Metal Shakespeare Co. is a blast to watch, and they always get a huge crowd when they play LC; I’d go so far as to say that Metal Shakespeare Co. shows are an experience that is uniquely entwined with the essence of the college. You may have taken the RAZ to Fred Meyer, chatted with Betty at breakfast, or been underwhelmed when someoene finally takes you to Narnia, but in order to truly be a member of this student body, in spirit, you need to experience Metal Shakespeare Company rocking out on their home turf. “I am LC?” No, no you are not. Metal Shakespeare Company is LC.
