The health center loves to be useful. Any time there is an opportunity to do something more than chuck condoms and birth control at people, LC’s health services, naturally, jump at it (try it–go in there with an actual injury, you’ll be pampered and cared for beyond belief).

It’s great that we’re prepared and it’s great that we can vaccinate against H1N1, but mentioning it close to twenty times in the combined previous two “Opportunities and Announcements?” I think the only people who are obsessed with the Swine Flu are the people who are telling us not to be obsessed with the swine flu.

This is especially awesome (from O&A III.2):

H1NI STUDENT RESPONSE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Call to service! Lewis & Clark needs your support. The H1N1 flu virus that is currently circulating globally is a new strain of flu.
According to the CDC and WHO epidemiologists who are tracking the pandemic, there have been more cases of illness in people
under the age of 25. That’s YOU!

What can you do to help? The H1N1 Student Response volunteers will serve the campus community by supporting
fellow students who are sick on campus by delivering meals to students who are in voluntary isolation on campus.
As a H1N1 Student Response volunteer, you will:

1. Attend orientation/training

2. Commit to serving 2-3 hours/week (this can count towards your $1,000
SIS Educational Award!!!)

3. Serve as an ambassador for healthy habits on campus by knowing
resources and behaviors

YOU ARE AT RISK FOR THIS (relatively mild, treatable) ILLNESS THAT KILLS PEOPLE (who are not part of your demographic) EVERYONE PANIC BUT DON’T PANIC BUT REALLY ACTUALLY PANIC BUT YOU’RE OKAY.

Wash your hands, cover your cough, stay home/get medical attention if you are really sick.  Get a shot if you are really worried. Problem solved (for us)?
