The Green–LC’s new community-driven website

With a name that seemingly alludes to our campus’s desire to care for the environment—and our undergrad population’s undeniable affinity for marijuana—The Green went live recently, to (well what do you expect?) underwhelming fanfare. I’m disappointed that this, like so many other potentially awesome things that have been tried at this college, may fizzle out; it is exactly the kind of online resource that could become the hub of campus communication.

Perhaps I’m just being cynical (I hope that’s the case).

The Green is awesome, for real. Anyone with an lclark.edu e-mail address can access the website and post or comment on articles, advertisements, and other web content.

IMO, the grass motif would be better if we actually had any left on campus

I’d love to see The Green become an oft-utilized tool for promotion and community cohesion. I’m certainly skeptical that it can overcome our general apathy for anything that isn’t related to Stephen Malkmus (Pavement reunion? Really? You’re not going to top Slanted and Enchanted…just give up!), but if The Green can somehow find a way to catch on, I think the school would certainly benefit.

Until then…

    Quoted for truth.
